A decadent Sunday Brunch at the Waldorf Astoria Shanghai was made all the more luxurious with a presentation from our inaugural badass of honor: Olivia Plotnick!

As one of the world's leading China marketing experts, the presentation was full to the brim with insights and expectations for the 2019 landscape, and beyond:

"If I could sum up my need to know for 2019 – don’t want to say predictions - but here’s what we know now and how to ride that wave:
  • Have a purpose          
  • Be engaging (with your content, with your actions)        
  • For god sake – engage!
  • Influences are so successful because they’ve built such personal relationships      
  • Get rid of the garbage – give me something healthy, useful and long lasting
  • Be aware of shifts, not takeovers – apps aren’t disappearing, but time spent is shifting
  • Be useful - don’t just provide information, provide tools      

Marketing has moved from cold calls, door to door salesmen, to then inbound marketing where we make content in the hopes that someone has a problem and they’re going to find us and we will build up  relationships etc. and more and more the content that is produced is centered around the consumer — personalization, entertainment, engagement, so we’re in this extremely customer-centric era where if you’re still talking about how great your product one will be listening."
